Early Beginnings

I guess I first delved into voice work in my youth, particularly my school days. I was often the comedian of the classroom, doing funny/silly voices and impersonating teachers and classmates alike! Being able to make my peers laugh was rewarding, and so my array of impersonations, accents, etc began to form :)

High School Years

In high school my interest in performing arts and drama manifested. While learning the art of performing on stage I used my existing vocal talent to bring life to the characters I portrayed. So began a symbiotic learning journey of applying my voice to the characters and scripts whilst at the same time diversifying my […]

Late Teens & Theatre

My Drama experience was applied to other areas like speeches, presentations and multimedia projects. Theatre was next! Performing to a classroom is something, but to a crowd of strangers is another. I participated in some plays and musicals, my favorite was titled ‘Man of Steel’ in which i had a lead role as a gangster! […]

My Story

I am Ollithicus! Hear me roar and tremble before me! Love my work or succumb to my wrath! Too aggressive? Ok I’ll tone it down. This section right here is where I provide you some insight into my being.

Firstly, I’m an independent voice actor. I recently moved to Melbourne from sunny Queensland both for work purposes and for a change of scenery which so far has not disappointed!

I guess I first delved into voice work in my youth, particularly my school days back in the town of Bundaberg where I grew up. As with most cases a classroom is full of diversity with different kids filling different roles. I suppose for myself, I was often the comedian of the class (a little more sophisticated than a clown, but effective nonetheless!). As is often a prerequisite for comedians of any form is versatility of one’s voice, something I seemed to have. “Hey Olly! Show these guys your Mr Teacher impersonation!” to which I’d oblige and be met with a positive reception (and sometimes a detention: P) But being able to make my peers laugh was rewarding, and so my array of impersonations, accents, etc began to form.

little me
My troubled teen years saw the creation of an ill-fated YouTube profile for V-Blogging which in addition to my usual randomality involved tirades against various things teens learn to loathe (school, parents, friends, etc) sadly a bit cliche with the coming of the digital online age in which we presently live. I did go a bit too far with doing parodies of some of the teachers under the employ of my high school which while met with lols, rofls and sometimes lmaos landed me a month suspension. And so ended my Youtube career. However my talents hadn’t been restricted to such tom foolery alone!

I studied Drama for the 5 years I was enrolled. While learning the art of performing on stage I used my existing vocal talent to bring life to the characters I portrayed. So began a symbiotic learning journey of applying my voice to the characters and scripts whilst at the same time diversifying my vocal skills with my exposure to new scripts and characters. I also utilised this new found experience in conjunction with other highschool subjects and assessments such as English speeches, debating, presentations, business ventures and multimedia projects.

the theatre days

The next step in this journey was the realm of theatre. Performing to a classroom full of your friends and colleagues is one thing, but to perform to an entire crowd of strangers is quite another! in my late teens I’d participated in a few plays and musicals. My fondest memory of this was for a play that our town’s local youth theatre group titled ‘Man of Steel’ (yes, in satire/tribute to Superman and BEFORE the film of the same name was released!). I scored a lead role as a villainous gangster names Knuckles! I just love playing villains :P

Nowadays

After high school I was focusing on jobs and earning a living. However there is a saying “If you find a job you love, then you never need work another day in your life.” And so I aspired to be a voice actor. So, since I have been in town I have built up a bit of an online presence with this website and various external profiled (i.e Youtube portfolio) and have had the good fortune and pleasure of attending some sessions in the studio with Abbe Holmes (from http://voiceovercoach.com.au/) and a group of other talented and terrific aspiring voice actors. Additionally, I have done some radio segments for Australia Post through their internal corporate radio as well as having done some commercial radio for AB Supplies, a local business in my home town. I built a recording booth so that I may do voiceover work from home and it has turned out nicely!

What happens next? I suppose we’ll wait and see :)
